They say you should suffer for your art. But have
they ever been forced to chug a literal bucket full of sour brown slime and then spew it back up like some outtake from The Exorcist? I'm all for 'method' journalism ... getting yourself as close to the story as you can, but I have to confess I began to question my methods if not my sanity after a solid hour spent projectile vomiting and watching bits of my stomach float away down the drain like little pink life rafts, all in the name of getting free of the grip of some drugs I wasn't addicted to. Anyway, I thought you might enjoy this piece I did for the late and very lamented Colors magazine, here:
